Enfield Council is offering Bike Tours along their new cycle lanes.

Following the successful completion of Enfield’s first major cycling scheme along the A105, free bike tours with qualified instructors are being offered to help riders familiarise themselves with the Green Lanes route.

The guided rides are open to everyone and designed to show riders how to make the most of day-to-day journeys along the new cycle lanes.

Enfield Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: “I am glad we are able to bring such high-quality and accessible training to Enfield, which will help to increase the number of people using bikes in our borough. This, in turn, will help to improve the environment and health of our residents whilst also contributing to the Council’s objectives of strengthening and improving our communities.”

The A105 guided rides are being offered with Transport for London funding from a cycle training framework jointly set up between Enfield and Haringey Councils.

Enfield Council has already had huge success with cycle training and supporting activities for residents. In the previous three years, over 9,500 children have received free cycle training at Bikeability levels one and two and ‘Dr Bike’ pop-up mechanic sessions have serviced over 6,000 bicycles.

Cllr Anderson said: “We have had a fantastic response to our cycling activities over the past three years, helping more and more people to get on their bikes and to cycle safely with confidence. Since the official opening of the A105 route back in March, we have seen growing demand for training so that cyclists, pedestrians and drivers can use the roads safely and harmoniously.”
